Environment Policy

Silentnight Group Limited is one of the UK's foremost suppliers of Beds. The Group's main activities include wood machining, assembly, upholstery, and the delivery of products directly to customers in the UK and ROI. We also import raw materials and some finished products. This policy applies equally to our suppliers and ourselves.

The Group fully understands its dependence and impact upon the environment and recognises the importance of sound environmental management practice. All our businesses will comply with and, where practical, exceed all relevant legal and regulatory requirements. We have policies and procedures in place with the aim of preventing pollution and securing continuous improvement in environmental performance, and all of our factories are subject to regular external audit. Through strategic planning we will pre-assess the environmental impact of all new developments and include environmental considerations in all investment decisions.

Consideration will always be given to the environmental effects of our raw material consumption and, in particular, the sustainable use of resources such as timber. All our softwoods originate from well-managed forests that are not being depleted, and we will minimise the use of all other raw materials and, wherever practical, our products are manufactured from materials and components that can be recycled.

Our wastage is continually reviewed to achieve the lowest practical level and we ensure the safe and responsible disposal of any unavoidable waste. We operate a policy of waste segregation to maximise recycling opportunities and divert waste away from landfill.

Through the efficient use of all forms of energy, we aim to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases and other atmospheric pollutants to a minimum. We invest heavily in our transport fleet to maintain high fuel efficiency and to minimise other environmental impacts.

Through our work with business programmes, and other initiatives, we will continue to promote sustainability and environmental good practice in the industry and the community. We foster openness and dialogue with interested parties about our environmental impacts. We encourage employee involvement in environmental matters and resources are provided to ensure adequate training.
